  2. Hi, your article is just what I needed to read. I have maple wood from my family’s roller skating business. It is hard maple so pretty light. Do I paint legs black or would light gray be better. Think I want light chairs? Ideas on chair colors too! Thanks so much!

  4. Hi Chris,
I have a glass top dining table with dark brown legs. The edges of about 1-1/2 inches of the table is dark brown, matching the legs. The glass top is light greyish colour. The present contemporary dining chairs are also dark brown but they’re falling apart.
I’ve recently purchased a stone colour (light grey) recliner – the stone colour is really growing on in me.
Since I have to replace the chairs, can I buy contemporary stone-colour dining chairs?
    Thanks for your response

I have an old solid oak rectangular pedestal table that is small but can be rolled out to sit 10 people comfortably, I know it is outdated but I love it and want to get new chairs to modernize it. The current chairs are the wood spindle back. I love the comfort of tub chairs with arms but don’t know if that will look OK. Please help me

    1. Hello Chris,
I have what was big in the eighties, a solid cherry rectangular table with 4 armless streamlined cherry bow back Windsor chairs. This look hasn’t been in for decades, but I can’t part with the chairs because they are aesthetically pleasing, comfortable, and incredibly well made to last generations. I never bought the end chairs because I didn’t want spindles all around the table. I thought I would introduce a different style end chairs but nothing seems to pair well with bow backed Windsor chairs. Do you have a suggestion for a more modern, possibly upholstered chair that might work? While that would be my preference, I would appreciate any suggestion you make.
