  1. This was helpful! I have ordered a round extendible dining table for my breakfast nook. Iโ€™m confused on what shape of rug will look good with this kind of dining table. It becomes oval when it extends. Any advice is appreciated

  2. I have purchased a marri wood dining table with black legs and light stone coloured dinning club chairs with metal black legs. The floor is jarrah.
The dinning chairs has a slight checked pattern to it and unsure what type of floor rug.
Concerned a pattern one will clash as I want the chairs /table to be the stars.
Any suggestion welcome as so far we have bought 2 different rugs home and not happy! Maybe overthinking it??

  3. Hi, We have bought a house with floorboards. Haven’t moved in yet. The boards will need to be re done in a year or so but in the meantime I was thinking of a rug in each the dinning and lounge – would you recommend the same rug in different sizes to suit each area of some kind of theme that ties them together eg colour or style? See attached to see relationship between the two rooms. https://www.realestate.com.au/property/84a-yarra-st-williamstown-vic-3016

    1. Hey Ana. I’d advise you to get two rugs but in different designs. You want them to speak to one another stylistically though. So perhaps one will be a flat colour and the other one will be patterned. You want them to be from the same family, but be sisters not twins. I hope that helps.

  4. Hi Chris. Thanks for this informative information. What would you do if you have a sitting area with a lounge suite next to your dining table. Would you put two different rugs with a gap of floor tile in-between or use a rug under one of the areas only?
If you put two rugs in each area, how do you choose colour and design to compliment each other and the room as a whole?

    1. Hi Chrisi there’s no hard and fast rule. If the tiles are nice and you’re not trying to cover them up or add a bit of interest, maybe go rugless under the table. If you do need two rugs you should probably visit a local rug retailer who has good sales professionals who can help you pick two rugs that work well near eachother.

  5. I’d love to know the approx size of the round rug and table in the first photo… this is the style/size/ratio I am looking for…
