Feature tiles are my new obsession. Be it in a bathroom, ensuite or kitchen, I love the wow factor they can bring to a space. Geometric ones in particular tend to get my heart racing more than any other variety, but it’s fair to say that most of the current looks on the market rock my world.
I recently caught up with Metricon Homes interior designer Hannah Joosse to talk all things feature tiles and the current trends that we’re seeing in homes at the moment. The video below also gives you some ideas on how to make feature tiles in a room the hero element, playing down the other design moments in the space to ensure your feature wall is the star of the setting.
The kitchen we filmed the video in was at the Metricon Homes display centre in Point Cook, and it features a really gorgeous tiled wall; used in place of a traditional splashback. It’s one of my fave looks from the variety of rooms you’ll see shots of.
I also love that we’re rethinking how to execute splashbacks in kitchens, and the ones showcased in this video feel timeless too, which is a really important factor to consider when your outlaying money on an element like this.
The splashback you’ll see in the video also shimmers and shines in the sunlight, so it’s a great inclusion in a smaller room to make the space feel bigger (the more light you have bouncing around a space, the larger it will feel!).
