It's a well-known fact that I don't get very creative in the kitchen. I leave those culinary adventures to my partner Gavin, who in return generally lets me have my run of the house when it comes to decorating (apart from that time he put me on a cushion ban). When it comes to baking or cocktails, though, you can bet your bottom dollar that I want in on the fun.
I'm in the process of moving to Newtown this week, so it was only fitting that I hit the main strip, King Street, in search of a new watering hole. What I discovered upstairs at The Newtown Hotel was more than I had bargained for in the best way possible. Let's take a look at Animal Bar, shall we?
Confession time: I've lived in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney for well over six years and prior to last weekend I had not been to The Norfolk. Even after its killer makeover in December 2010 (I know, cuff me and throw away the key). Plenty of people had told me how much I would love the beer garden there - and after sitting in it for a few hours recently, they weren't wrong. Its laid-back, mismatched retro vibe is right up my alley (as are the cocktails)!
