  1. Love California Cool as you can combine “old” and new. Not easy to pull off. Your article helps.

  2. This is a big improvement on the white and grey, but for those of us who live in smaller dwellings and like colour we will forget the “ trends” and do our our own thing.

    1. Of course! An Interior Designer like me might recommend something different based on our expertise and knowledge but you do what works for you.

  3. I have finally settled (if you can say settled when mashing up three styles) on industrial farmhouse luxe for the renovation I’m doing on our early 80s place. Parts of it have been renovated already (master bath and kitchen) but they are not practical. The first job is the main bathroom which still has pine wood walls. The second is to get rid of the orange popcorn ceilings in the main lounge and master bedroom (cathedral ceilings!) followed by rendering the brown brick. It may just do me in

  4. Earthy Organic is my fav. These colours fit in with what I already own & my 1970s house which includes a lot of built in real wood storage.
I especially like the camel coloured walls which is a colour that is in my bedroom carpet.

  5. Second Genevieve’s request for a blog post on biophilic home design. I know you’re a lover of fake plants, but there’s something about the real thing I love. I’ve just started thinking about how to add some plants but I’d love to hear about some more unusual ways to make it work.

  6. Quite a discerning and brilliant article! Thanks for this, Chris. My inclination is a mix of neutral luxe and California cool (minus the boho part) plus lots of indoor plants. May you please create a blog on biophilic home design?

  7. I love the California Cool! I love the fact I can use some of my old bits and pieces and then add a few modern elements to create this look.
I love the mix of different types of wood and the addition of black – I like black in Interiors.
The style is clean and unclutter but still eclectic!
Thanks you for this forecast Chris! I will defiantly be using this as inspiration for my bedroom styling @theloomroom 🙂

  8. Love the Modern Industrial look…. with a little bit of refined luxe thrown in for good measure. Can’t wait to apply this to our home as we go through our extension and renovation.

  9. Gee TLC every room is stunning, I love the white sofa in the first pic. Any idea where it is available from please.
    Again a great visual read.

  10. I have already started to adopt Neutral Luxe in preparation for a new off the plan unit we have bought. I was told that too much stone could make the unit cold (when considering ethanol fireplace framing), but now I think it may still work, if the earth tones are soft hues and the rug is luxurious and thick. Thanks for the article, it has confirmed some choices of furniture and the cost outlaid..
