Everything You Need for a Perfect Sleep Under One Roof

I think the last time I had a good sleep was in 1993. I would have been 11 at the time, so it makes perfect sense. I had nothing to worry about except for which cereal I was going to have in the morning. The answer is Coco Pops btw. Always Coco Pops!

Adulting is hard. And getting a good night’s sleep is even harder. I’ve realised the reason for this happening, actually. You can never get all the products you need for your bedroom in one place. You gotta go to a mattress store, then get ben linen, then find your perfect pillow. It’s harder than sudoku (still have no idea how that works), and I just can’t be bothered.

When I caught wind that IKEA has delivered an all-under-one-roof solution, I high-tailed it into their Springvale store to check it out. And check it out I did. I got my dream mattress, perfect pillows and sublime sheets all in one place. So guess who’s going to sleep like it’s 1993 again? You guessed it: this little Tucan Sam (I was also partial to Fruit Loops).

IKEA Complete Sleep Studio: Ultimate Snooze Goals

Once you hit IKEA, put down those meatballs and head straight to the Complete Sleep Studio. It’s in the bedding section of the store and it’s where all the magic happens.

It all starts with their mattress selector tool. It’s a next-level piece of technology and it’s kinda like a pop quiz for your bed. Side note: the last pop quiz I did was to find out which Sex and the City Character I was and three goes later I STILL got Miranda. Not cute.

Anyway, all you gotta do is answer a few questions about your sleep routine (whether you’re a side sleeper, a sweater, take naps, all of that) and the mattress selector finds the best IKEA mattresses for you. And the best part: they’re all right there for you to road test.

The Mattress Selector Tool Recommends Everything you Need

The mattress selector tool goes beyond just your mattress. It’ll also recommend the best types of pillows for your sleep style, along with things like mattress toppers, quilts and more. It’s absolute one-stop-shop goals; get all the shopping done in one hit and then head on home.

During my visit a few things became clear:

  • I’m a side sleeper who tosses and turns a lot (annoying)
  • I do heat up throughout the night (this is not adorable)
  • My partner’s movement disturbs me (can he please sleep like an embalmed mummy?)

The mattress tool recommended for me:

I have all of these items on the way to me along with a sublime little sheet set too. I cannot wait to roll this all out.

You should also Experience the IKEA Sleep Pods

When you visit your IKEA store you gotta check out the sleep pods. There’s three in-store and they’ll get you thinking about the different factors that effect your sleep. We’ve got the sight room, the scent room and the touch room.

You can walk through all of these pods in-store and start to tick off if your bedroom has all of these gorgeous and necessary elements in it.

Firstly, the sight pod

What are we waking up to of a morning? Are there some gorgeous sheer curtains in the room? Do we have divine art on the walls? Is your bedside table styled up? A good night’s sleep is about surrounding yourself with beautiful things so you gotta make sure your bedroom is packed with the decor you love.

Next up, the scent pod

It’s all about taking in gorgeous smells, not horrid ones. You gotta consider things like fresh flowers and candles in your bedroom because fragrance has a huge impact on how you feel. We all know I’ve never met a candle I didn’t like, so I’m all over this one.

Lastly, the touch pod

This one is all about the materials you’re touching in bed, like the sheets and the quilt cover and the pillows, but also what’s underfoot when you get up. We do love a rug in the bedroom. And honestly, people never properly consider just how important touch is to how you feel in a space.

Don’t Assume you know what you need

Just because you sleep in your bed, doesn’t mean you know if you’ve chosen the right pieces for it. It’s like when you go to the hairdresser with a picture of a celebrity and the bad news must be broken to you that your hair type won’t support ‘The Rachel’.

The IKEA Complete Sleep Solution and Mattress Selector Tool are your experts in getting a good night’s sleep. Let them take control of the situation. Let the technology determine what kind of sleeper you are, and then grab all the things you need to cater to you while you’re there.

A good night’s sleep will have you snoozing like a kid again, and I personally can’t wait to get everything on my bed. Coco Pops and Saturday Disney of a weekend here I come (do not tell me Saturday Disney is no longer on TV or heads will roll).

This post was produced in partnership with IKEA. To find out more about the IKEA Complete Sleep Studio, simply head into your nearest IKEA store.

    I still want The Rachel.

Seriously, though, we’re on the hunt for a new bed so thank you for this.
