I’ve long had an admiration for American designer Jonathan Adler. His irreverent approach to design and willingness to experiment makes him one of the most iconic creatives of our time. He also has a mantra of ’embracing the ugly’ when it comes to design and decor, which is one philosophy I’m really on board with.
AOL did a series of videos with him that I came across recently and I’ve become a little smitten with them.
In this particular video, Jonathan discusses his love of 70s Americana, peacock chairs, macrame and a host of other trends that have come back to the forefront in interiors of late.
He also speaks to keeping an open mind when approaching design and decorating and makes a valid point about always retaining a childlike curiosity when it comes to creativity.
Undoubtably, it’s this approach that’s got him to where he is today. He started out in pottery many moons ago and has since gone on to do interiors, design homewares, write books and open a handful of stores globally.
