Coloured lockers are taking the country by storm, and today you not only get to meet the creative ladies behind the brand that makes them, but you get a chance to win one for your own home too. Read on to take in all the designer magic!
Nothing excites me more than discovering a new homewares or furniture brand. It’s more thrilling than being a kid on Christmas morn (and it comes with no festive family arguments!). With tonnes of new brands emerging around the clock, you gotta have a pretty unique product to cut through all the noise. And the girl bosses behind Aussie biz Mustard certainly do.
Who knew there was a gap in the marker for coloured lockers? I actually wish I’d thought of it. These versatile storage solutions are not only practical from a functional perspective, but they’re easy on the eye too. It was the sense of versatility that stuck out as an important factor for the sisters behind the brand, Becca and Jess. And they tell me that the lockers are ideal for a variety of uses.
Mustard Coloured Lockers: A Versatile Storage Solution
And Available in so Many Colours too!
“We knew that the humble locker could be used in so many ways and from the start we didn’t want to limit it to just one area,” Becca tells me. “They make great kids room pieces and are perfect for teens to lock their stuff away. But they also work really well in the bedroom or living room, and of course work spaces too. We love seeing how they are used from bedside tables to kitchen pantries and they are even great for storing your Dyson!”.
Launching at Life Instyle in Feb this year, the first shipment of coloured lockers arrive in June, so when I say this biz is new… this biz is new! Launching at industry trade fairs was a strategic move for the duo, and it’s an approach that’s already paying off.
“The ripples that sent out and the support of our fab stockists have been fuelling our growth so we are really grateful that such beautiful stores saw the potential in our products,” Becca explains. “It also exposed Mustard to some lovely stylists and interior designers who have been placing our lockers in gorgeous rooms and helping to spread the word”.
Coloured Lockers are Just the Beginning
I get a feeling in my waters when I discover a brand that I think is going to take off, and I really do believe we’re going to be seeing Mustard everywhere. In fact, Becca and Jess are launching the coloured lockers in the UK this month, so the brand has already gone international just months after its birth.
The dazzling array of colours on offer from Mustard is another standout feature for me. There’s a great combination of subtle shades and more vibrant moments available in the collection, making them great for a variety of interior design schemes.
“It started out really instinctively with the colours we would choose for our own homes, balancing bolder colours with neutrals and soaking up the influence of the trends around us. It was great fun picking the final shades and seeing the samples in all the colours really brought it all to life. We certainly plan to add more colours in the future (feel free to send suggestions!)”.
It’s no surprise that reports back from happy customers has been outstanding. Becca tells me that a lot of the feedback is around how amazing the coloured lockers look in real life – better than the photos! And of course, apart from launching in the UK this month, there’s more exciting news for these stylish siblings.
“We will be bringing out a new product too! We can’t wait to see what the next few months hold for Mustard as we take it to a whole new market and beyond,” Becca says.

The Olive is certainly a stand out, would pair well with the olive bedhead I had custom made. Aside from the colour, I just really like the idea as a whole…little bit retro, little bit industrial, little bit cute, and with a colour range to show your personality, win win!
I NEED the Olive!!
It gives me heart palpitations. That is all.
Wow such a great range of colors and they look so cool. Personally I would love any they are delightful. A favourite is the olive shorty. I love greenery and timber and the olive would give my study a pop of colour. .
Love, love, love the shorty – incredibly versatile and a piece that will be as good now as in ten years time with a bit of wear and tear.
As a gift for my niece I am redecorating her room before she begins secondary schooling next year. The shorty in slate or blush would be an amazing statement piece to base the room design. Got to be in it to win it!
Wow I had no idea that lockers could look so cool. I love the whole range! We are about to repaint and refresh our house so I can’t go past the olive in the short or long so add a dash of Colour to an office. Being a great lover of plants and timber it would compliment it well.
So hard to choose one! What a gorgeous range of colour a. The Shorty in Blush is just gorgeous and would be perfect for either one of my girls who are 7 and 16 – if I could bring myself to let someone else have it lol!! Chris – I love your blogs – they are entertaining and honest. I’m finding your design approach so inspiring and fun but with a down to earth element. Thanks for sharing it all with us!
The Skinny or Shorty in white or mustard! Both styles would fit perfectly into my new Reno’s – the Shorty as a bedroom side cabinet, the skinny as a funky bathroom cabinet for towels. Love love
Hey Chris, love all the colours but love the clean lines of the white
Just updating my teenage daughters room. White would be the perfect addition to her room. Love them!
A shorty in a mustard is much like a love locket,
You keep the things you closest to you heart,
And it’s easy on the good old eye socket.
Id enjoy this sunny piece of furniture art 🙂
