I’m a firm believer in being inspired by the everyday. I think if you look hard enough, you can pretty much use anything in your everyday life (even the seemingly mundane) to inspire an interior design scheme.
These moments are what I call Everday Inspo – and you should use them to inspire room designs in your home!
Sometimes you have to train your eye to see the design potential in a random moment, which is why I’m starting this new segment on the blog called Everyday Inspo. Each week I’ll take an image and show you how to can use it to inspire and interior design moodboard.
THE EVERYDAY INSPO
This was a flatlay photo I took a little while ago when I was paying for my brunch at a local cafe. I loved the mixed of lilac, white and gold tones at the counter. It was wonderfully soft and feminine but hardened a little by the marble benchtop and flecked stone bowl.
The image features a really nice balance of elements and it’s birthed the living room ideas I’m going to give you in this week’s #EverydayInspo mood board. I’m calling this one ‘Sophisticated Lady’ and I challenge you not to fall in love with it a little!
THE STYLISED INTERPRETATION
The image below comes courtesy of H&M and it picks up a lot of the colours in the everyday inspo image above. Gorgeous lilac tones dominate the space but the look is heavily grounded using black and charcoal grey. This gives the room a sense of depth and prevents it from heading in too girly a direction.
I really like the sense of relaxed sophistication here. It certainly feels comfy and unpretentious, but there are some luxe moments here that make it feel well resolved as a space.
THE Sophisticated Lady MOOD BOARD
Take some living room ideas from the below mood board, which picks up on the dark and moody vibe in this space but still celebrates the soft pink and lilac tones that make the room above feel so wonderfully soft and sumptuous.
