It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with the Real Housewives franchise. Well, three in particular, actually; New York, Beverly Hills and my absolute favourite, Melbourne.
Since having moved down to Melbs a few years ago, I’ve only ever seen one of the lovely ladies (at Life Instyle), and that’s the divine Chyka Keebaugh – who I think of as the calm in the storm on the Foxtel production.
Inside the Home of Chyka Keebaugh
She also has a stellar blog of her own you should check out, Chyka Life & Style, and runs a number of successful businesses down here in Victoria.
I’m beyond delighted to give you a peak into Chyka’s home on the blog today, and get some inside goss about the property from the lady herself.
Let’s take a closer look inside Chyka’s lovely Melbourne home and get a feel for what she loves about it.
Chyka’s Home is family friendly
Chyka describes her home as very family friendly, having lived there for 16 years with her children and husband Bruce.
“We have renovated it to an inch of its life but are so very happy with it,” Chyka tells me. “But you know me, I love a project! And I always have some new ideas on fixing and painting and rearranging”.
Describing her home’s style as eclectic and layered, Chyka says she adores fabrics and cushions, fresh flowers and books, and uses those elements to create individual style stories across the house.
“I travel a lot and like incorporating those treasures found overseas in our home too,” she explains. “Each room has their own story to tell and I love that”.
What I adore most about this home is that sense of heart, soul and story. By keeping the base tones neutral and subdued, it’s allowed Chyka to work in a variety of decor that might ordinarily seem to compete or clash.
However in this space, the different elements work together to create a rich tapestry of colour and texture. It feels homely and yet still completely sophisticated.
you know me, I love a project! And I always have some new ideas on fixing and painting and rearranging.
Chyka calls the style shots
While Chyka admits that husband Bruce does have some input when it comes to the design of the home, she tells me that she does make most of the decorating decisions.
“Although I do ask for opinions and advice from my family too,” she tells me. “Bruce has a great eye but is more about the big picture while I’m all about detail”.
And the details are pretty stunning, wouldn’t you agree? A perfect example of this is the mix of new and old in the decorative touches (see above and below photos in particular).
You have to be very careful when trying to merge vintage and contemporary pieces like this in a space, but Chyka has achieved a perfect balance. No one element seems out of place, and the different pieces play perfectly together.
There is a big pink linen couch that Bruce sits on while I get ready at night. It seems to be where we have all our family chats.
Chyka’s Favourite Room
Of all of the fabulous rooms in her home (and good Lord aren’t they amazing?), Chyka tells me that her dressing room is the place she loves spending time. And the rest of the family can often be found in there too.
“I love my dressing room,” she admits. “It’s pink and girly plus has all of my things on display the way I like it. There is a big pink linen couch that Bruce sits on while I get ready at night. It seems to be where we have all our family chats. I call this room my happy place!”.
With 16 years in the home under their belt and with the kids getting older, Chyka and Bruce have their sights set on building a dream home in the country.
“We have already drawn up what we want to do – [we] just need to find the land and time to do it!”.

Great! love to watch Chyka house inside.
I just feel like sitting on your cozy bed. It seems so comfortable and the furniture is so elegant. I am in love with your house. Much love xoxo!
What a gorgeous home! It’s cosy and welcoming, but chic at the same time. I love how she manages to combine different styles and pieces and it all comes together. Thank you for sharing!
I admire Chyka, and absolutely love her style. My house is very similar. A bit of the old mix with the new. Love, love, love Chyka.
I love the blend of styles she incorporates into her home – I wish I could have seen her dressing room!
Chyka I love your rawness. The essence of Chyka is gold. That’s why I admire you.
PS: When Chyka and Bruce do get around to building their country house, wouldn’t it be fabulous to see them on ‘Grand Designs’? If I lived in Melbourne I might be tempted to sell an organ or two to put in a bid to buy her existing house – I wouldn’t change a thing 😉
I love your blog, by the way – this is (I think?) my first time commenting, but I always look forward to new posts 🙂
Oh Tina – thank you so much for your kind words. It is such a good thing for a blogger to get – a comment – to know there are people on the other side lol. And I am with you – love everything about Chyka’s home. I might sell a few organs and see how much cash I can get to bid too 😉 And do you think Lydia’s house would best be described as “wow”? lol
Wow – that’s such a beautiful home. Chyka seems like a really lovely person, not to mention extremely lucky and blessed – oh, to walk in her shoes for just one day! My favourite space is that little window seat with all the colourful cushions, followed closely by her gorgeous bedroom.
Please do Lydia’s house next! 🙂
I thinks its amazing what Chyka has been able to to with her home . It takes someone with a creative flair and attention to detail to be able to really make all those pieces work well in her rooms . What I really like about Chyka’s home is that it is beautifully homely and every room has a different element to it . What I love the most is how she expresses herself in her home through her decorative flair to make it a family home to enjoy with her family . Its looks very inviting and warm . Thanks for sharing
Love her! The little library/reading area is divine.
