Tonight’s House Rules reveal was certainly an emotional one (I think the judges were the only ones who didn’t cry), and as always there were some high and low moments to be had. I’m sharing six lessons I’ve learnt from watching this ep. Drop a comment below and share what you were loving!
Homewares can cut off your circulation.
As Mel discovered, a bag full of homewares is not always your friend and can turn on you at any given moment. It can also be the straw that breaks the camels back, as she discovered all too well in this moment before her breakdown.
Tall people enjoy spending time in the kitchen, too.
For the second week in a row, Brooke and Grant designed a space that didn’t cater for anyone over 5 foot. Joe was once again left to demonstrate the downside of being a giant in a small person’s world.
Apparently you can have too many cushions.
I’ve always been the first person to declare that you can never have too many cushions in your space, but Mel and Bomber taught me a valuable lesson in tonight’s episode; if you purchase a stunning leather couch, you actually need to be able to see it.
They make ironing boards for children.
Candy and Ryan did do wonders with the laundry area (door opening issues aside) and I did love that copper piping. But it all became a little confusing with the placement of that child’s ironing board. Not entirely sure what you’re meant to do with that?
Brooke likes camping (and giving Grant grief).
After creating a kitchen that was anything but industrial chick, Brooke got her ‘tude on and blamed Grant for the score. “He needs to listen next week, or I’ll go home and you can do it yourself,” she suggested. Ouch.
Before you style a boudoir, it’s best to figure out what it means.
“What’s a bood-wah? Oh, bood-wah’s a feeling,” Candy said in the promo for the next episode. I can’t wait to see what they’re creating for Adam and Lisa if this is how they’re starting off the challenge.

I learnt that I don’t like the Tassie couple much, that it’s possible to spend more on cushions than the actual couch and that a couple can rave about how much they love a space, then only score it a 6!!!
haha Charmaine you are hilarious. I am with you on the Tassie couple! Thought the cushions on the couch were a funny overkill!
