The first House Rules reveal has taken place, proving that some teams have an eye for design while others, well, need a little more time to develop their skill set. 1. “I don’t think this is blue, I think this is the protective plastic”.
It doesn’t get more hilarious than not realising your cabinetry comes delivered in a casing to protect the joinery. An endearing epic fail here on the part of Maddi and Lloyd in the pantry and laundry. Their room lacked a few other key design elements but this was by far the funniest.
2. “I’m sorry… I just… I can’t stand it”.
Judge Wendy Moore described the art chosen by Adam and Lisa in the entryway as awful and I have to agree. Joe suggested it best they just move on, but I think it would have been more appropriate to take it off the wall altogether.
3. “It’s just not fair”.
Brooke and Grant may have done some amazing things in terms of colour and energy in their bathroom, but they clearly didn’t take anyone’s height into account when they installed the shower head. Making this feature so low was best summed up by Joe’s statement “it’s just not fair”.
4. “What is this area?”
Things can’t be going well if the home owner walks into the space you’ve just renovated and has no clear idea of what the room is used for. Maddi and Lloyd can’t have been happy with that reaction, although Candy and Ryan did show some appreciation for the space shortly after.
5. That Dragonfly.
Not exactly a funny moment but more of a WTF one. I’m not sure what Brooke was thinking bringing this ghastly number inside to pop on the bedroom wall, but it doesn’t work in the space at all. I think the mission to find that pink candle holder could have been better spent removing the dragonfly offsite.
