The bathroom is the forgotten zone in the house, I find, especially when it comes to decorating. Often thought of as a functional zone as opposed to one that can demonstrate designer wow-moments, it’s a space that’s crying out for your love. The October issue of Inside Out is changing all that, of course, with a few divine spreads on bathroom storage that will change the way you think about this space!
First stop: page 44, which has been styled to perfection by Joseph Gardner and shot by Craig Wall.
What these modern takes on vanities do is give you a sense of how you can make your bathroom feel fresh and contemporary. With muted tones and a few sorbet hues thrown in for good measure, it’s all about interesting shapes and banishing the concept of hidden storage.

Never in my life have I seen a wooden tooth brush, but it’s giving me heart palpitations in the best way possible. Page 148 kicks off a stunning spread on Styling Lessons and I’m truly captivated the beauty that can be found in items that are perceived to be everyday, functional and boring.
Styled by Heather Nette King and snapped by Derek Swalwell, these images gives you a real sense of how a few decorative items in a space – teamed with pops of colour – can bring a bathroom into the now. Sidenote: how stunning is that portable mirror?

Bathrooms don’t have to be boring, nor do they have to remain zones that are purely functional. You can make this zone of your home a wow-factor moment without spending too much money either. The towels above are from IKEA, for example, so they won’t break the bank but will bring some pizazz to your bathroom.
