  1. Ok we have a matched bedroom suite but i like all of it sorry not sorry 😉 need to sort out the wall art and painting but that’s it. Pity we can’t upload pics here!

  2. Hi Chris

I have a Queen Wrought Iron bed, silver grey in colour, with timber bedside tables.
Have black roller blind on window above bed and adjacent wall.
White walls (ahhhh). You’re probably on the floor right now, but it is what it is!
    Flooring is vinyl grey planks.

What colour rug would you suggest please?

I look forward to your suggestions.

    cheers
    Glenda

ps: it’s an old house with decorative cornices, deep skirting boards.

    1. Hey Glenda. Not on the floor yet lol. You definitely have enough grey in the room, so you either go for a darker tone rug or a much lighter one. Is there a focal point in the room (something already drawing the eye?). If not, you could go for a black and white patterned rug. Nothing too graphic like a geometric, but softer. The room sounds like it needs it.

  3. 3/10! We live in a rental so can’t do anything about the window treatments or the white walls. I laughed when you said about the boomerang pillows . My hubby & I have a big pillow each that looks like a tooth (sorry ) but I have a chronic illness and this is the only thing that I can sleep with to ease the pain.
We don’t have anywhere to put them during the day but when our new home is finished we will have room for storage, I promise I’ll put them away off the bed during the day!

  4. Thought I was going to do a lot worse. Roughly 4. My bedside table isn’t empty, but it is full of shit like medications, creams etc, so that gives me the 4 haha. Looking forward to having our own home soon rather than the rental. The deal with my husband is we can upgrade out bedroom furniture (from a set he got as a teen ) when we stop moving from rental to rental.

Any tips on fabric bedheads and dust mite allergies? Are there treated ones? Or am I being lead towards choosing a metal bed frame?

    1. I haven’t had that question about fabric headboards and allergies before, so I can’t help there sorry. There are some great metal or wood frames out there.

  5. I got 1… I have blockout drapes with beautiful sheers behind! I won’t be changing to roller blinds imho (I am no designer though ) they are not for bedrooms… bedrooms need to be kept dark. Yes they are streamline and take up less room but they are neither soft, opulent or particularly alluring!

    1. Fair enough Nikki! A roller can give great blockout, but it will let a bit of light in at the edges. I’m not a fan of heavy drapes but I know some people like that total darkness.

  6. Hi Chris enjoyed this read – thank you! I’ve been looking at my lonely roller blind for a while now and wanting to do a sheer over the top (master bed onto the front of property with lots of people have a casual look in when its up!) Question – can i take the sheer to the ceiling (2.7m ceilings) or just over the window?

    1. With such high ceilings, you might create a nice effect doing floor to ceiling, but it’s hard for me to say for sure without seeing the space.

  7. I was just lying in bed catching up on emails before sleep and eyeing off my mismatched bedroom furniture thinking I should get a suite when your email popped in, haha. Glad to say I scored a two due to lack of fragrance, and blockout curtains which I should change to rollers and sheers. Great blog, thanks.

  8. I’ve got a few from your list. The wall behind our bed is white painted brick. We have a very low timber bedhead with shelves joined to the bedsides. 1950’s. I have a white chenille type bedspread, it’s fairly new. Though I do have a colourful quilt at the end of the bed, and a rug on our fabulous Timber floors from Finland. Also have a low set of matching timber drawers that go with the bed head. I do have art!!!!! But the doors lead out onto a balcony which are white timber shutters with no glass. The architect had them built in 1950, and we are in a Qld. No floaty drapes either. We have teak timber venetians. I am your worst nightmare are you off the floor yet???

  9. Great post Chris, thank you. , I scored a 3 – definitely need some subtle fragrance in the room, package deals, what were we thinking and block out blinds, tell husband to wear eye shades.

    1. I’ve got a few, lets just say more than 1. I have serious breathing issues with fragrances, but have discovered that pure beeswax candles just have a pleasant sweet, honey scent & don’t bother me. Might be useful to try for other members eith fragrance issues.
