You know I always practice what I preach, right?
Well, when I declared in a recent post that Autumn and Winter were going to be all about neutrals, I had to follow through with the concept in my own home. And so, it began this week in my bedroom, which was previously a little bit brighter and a little more whimsical.
The other night I could feel a chill in the air and it got me very excited to rug up for Autumn. So this week I started on making over my bedside table with a little help from the team at Super Amart. And what fun it was!
This is brought to you by Nuffnang and Super Amart.
Of course, as I always say on this blog, I am all about doing things on a budget, so the spend for this revamp was under $160! Which I think is pretty reasonable considering the mood I’ve created in my room and the fact that these pieces can easily transition into spring and summer (bonus savings later in the year!).
Style Tips for the Bedside Table
A bedroom is the same as any other room in your home; you have to create balance for it to look right. And in this scenario, it’s about balance of colours, textures, styles and shapes.
I have the Eden Bed from Incy Interiors in my bedroom, which I butched up a bit by using old, industrial crates as bedsides. This was the first step in creating a bit of balance and harmony.
When it came to bedside accessories, you’ll notice I’ve gone for a combination of heights. A tall lamp, a medium-sized owl and a smaller artificial plant (I’ll kill any living greenery that enters my home!). This allows the eye to go on a visual journey.
In terms of textures, notice how the industrial bedside and rustic owl have been balanced by the gloss of the plant pot and the warm wood tones on the lamp base? The addition of glass accessories adds even more of a textural story. Something to keep in mind when you’re styling your own bedside. The more texture, the more welcoming a scene will feel.
Colour-wise, it’s fairly neutral, which I think is nice in a bedroom to create a sense of calm. Pops of green and gold are subtle and kept to a minimum.
I hope these images and ideas have given you a bit of inspiration to make over your own space for Autumn and Winter. It did, if nothing else, get me cleaning the bedside table in preparation for photos. Seriously, I realised I’d left a water bottle on there that was from at least 4 months ago. So it was a good chance to Spring clean – even if it is only March. I did also previously have a stack of home decorating books on the bedside, so now it’s time to rediscover those over a glass of red!
Below I’ve listed the details for the Super Amart products I used in this makeover, so you can grab them yourself if you like the look of them. I think the owl is my fave piece. I’m completely and utterly addicted to bird ornaments and it’s showing no signs of waning. Keep in mind, the OWLBI Owl in the photos above is only available in-store. The one below (available on the Super Amart website) is its very similar brother, though.

P.S, Hi, btw! Its been a while, hope you are well.
Hey Debbie. Thanks so much (and good to chat again – it has been a while!). The Love sign is from Frankies Girl Designs. She sells through Etsy, but if you Google the company name you’ll find it 🙂
Love this blog
This is just fabulous – I need to make over my bedside table and I love the contrast of white and the brown glass – thanks for the inspiration!
It looks gorgeous! I had never really thought too much about styling my bedside tables – usually its just a cute lamp and books though I like the layering/texture you’ve created. Must go searching for the aloe pick mini tub 🙂
I love it Chris – It’s gorgeous! I would happily have that bedside by my bed 🙂 xx
