I have to say, I’ve been so impressed and completely wowed by the kitchens that have been unveiled so far on Reno Rumble. The finishes are amazing, the design elements are all there and each one differs wonderfully from the next. We’re in week four of the competition and I’ve not seen a look replicated – it’s highly impressive!

I put it down to skilled teams who’ve been around the reno block before, but also the sublime product range from Freedom Kitchens, which I’m gradually becoming entangled in a severe love affair with.
Let’s take a look at the two kitchen reveals below and hear from the home owners on what they thought of the transformed spaces.
Blue Tongue’s Kitchen Reveal
Alice was in dire need of Carly and Leighton’s help to breathe new life into her crumbling kitchen. A galley kitchen with very little bench space, there was also no room for a fridge or dishwasher, leaving Alice no choice but to put them in the laundry (hashtag #NotIdeal).
Enter the Blue Tongue’s, who gave Alice the entertainer kitchen of her dreams. Here’s what she had to say about the reno.
What she was looking for aesthetically…
“We wanted a contemporary space with a touch of art deco that would be timeless,” Alice says, “and complement the original character of the house”.
Thoughts on the colour scheme and style of the space…
“The colour palette of white and grey/marble used in the kitchen flows throughout the rest of the house and the the geometric pattern in the splashback carries through the strong art deco lines/patterns in the rest of the house”.
What Alice loves most in the space…
“There are too many things to list, it’s too hard to pick. We love that we now have plenty of storage space and bench top space, the pull out pantry doors and the large cook top!”.
Redback’s Kitchen Reveal
Josh and Jenna came to the rescue of home owner Stefani, whose busy family kitchen was looking worse for wear. Chipped cupboard doors and drawers, a dud pantry and a layout that was less than ideal were all issues that needed addressing.
The Redback’s have certainly delivered a kitchen that ticks all the boxes, don’t you think?
Stefani on the colour scheme and styling choices…
“Our new Freedom Kitchen blends in effortlessly and looks very high-end and stylish and is so user friendly,” Stefani says. “The colours and textures of the materials used are bang on the mid-century modern brief but completely work in a 2015 modern home environment”.
What the family loves the most about the new space…
“We love having our fridges ‘built in’ so they are hidden behind the matching timber grain cabinet doors. Makes the kitchen look more natural and textured, less about the white goods. We have two [pull out pantries] and they are life changing! We can see everything in the pantry and easily stack, store and access whatever it is we want to use”.
How the new kitchen has changed their lives…
“We now appreciate what can be achieved with clever cabinetry and good design in a smaller footprint. The new kitchen takes up less space and provides greater functionality without sacrificing style”.

I would love to know what paint finishes the Redbacks have used in their bedrooms. It is some kind of textured paint by what I can make out? It would be great if they told you the stockists, paint and tile choices etc they make on this show similar to what they do on The Block.
Hey Chris! Do you know where those stunning splashback tiles from the Blue Tongue’s kitchen are from? I am madly in love with them!! 🙂
I prefer C&L but I actually disagree with the judges I hate those handles they put on!! Although I agree a matt white would have looked a lot nicer.
I love the new skylights with the deep recesses that they are using in the homes. Im wondering if they can be used in most homes or have they created a certain style of roofline to accommodate them?
