  1. I’m with you all the way! I’ve actually stopped watching the show and only read your review, much more rewarding and informative, plus fun. Don’t really understand why they are turning The Block into a drama and including clueless contestants, it used to set a standard, showcasing new interior design and renovation know how, now it’s a bore!

  2. Hi, you didn’t mentioned the art in Kyle and Leslie‘s, if you could call it that. Some nice pieces individually but together looked terrible. What are your thoughts?

  3. Absolutely 100% agree with your views, Chris, and the other reader comments. Yes, two screens – a laptop AND a monitor for successful working. Loads of storage, space to layout paperwork or documents. Chairs for guests. Drawers for small office supplies and papers. Stylish rubbish bin. Even a nice mirror for a quick make-up check before a meeting. Suitable Zoom back-drop. No beds! No TV’s (unless you make movies for a living). No huge sofas! COME ON, PEOPLE!

  4. Agree with you 100%. Kristy and Brett had the only true home office. The houses have an Activity Centre Zone rather than Neighbourhood Residential Zone. They are a block away from a section earmarked as a health precinct focus, and a block and a half from the commercial centre in the other direction. With the prices that Danny Wallis pushes the houses to, they would do well to try and woo people seeking to operate a business from home. Steph and Gian’s room looked like a student study/teenage retreat and agree the chairs didn’t look comfortable at all. And yes, as indicated by a previous responder, there is an alcove between the window and curtains (Not sure why the curtains are where they are) in House 2

  5. Totally agree, the best floor plan is desks at centre & lots of storage. Don’t think I will watch this year, but I will read your posts

  6. The best part of reveal night is reading your review the next day. Love how you think. Don’t change a thing.
Why haven’t you been asked to be a judge? You make total sense.

  7. So just looked at the listing’s floor plan https://www.domain.com.au/16-charming-street-hampton-east-vic-3188-2018655233 and it’s like a bay window. What a wasted opportunity

  8. I just wish someone actually styled a home office with a monitor instead of expected everyone to work from home on a laptop, then they would realise how ridiculous most of the desks would be to sit at all day for work. They’ve essentially made children study desks spaces, not work from home. 100% agree with your feedback. I long for a office that feels like a work space instead of a corner of the lounge or bedroom. I think they’ve missed just how many people work from home and now there are loads of households that actually require two work from home set ups (in different rooms!) it seems like the show asked for work from home spaces and anyone who delivered that was penalised for doing that. I agree the winning room should have been Kristy and Brett, what a great view, plus front of the house. Why would anyone want their home office to dial as an entertainment space, don’t be near my laptop with your wine please.

(No idea what the space behind the curtain is about, it was not mentioned in floor plans of the weekday episodes)

    1. 100% agree with you regarding the monitor. If these are true WFH spaces, then there should be provisions for two monitors, although, in saying that, it ruins the IMac minimalist aesthetic. Although agree that the Kristy & Brett’s room was the best, it wouldn’t be practical for me to use as an office.

  9. Hi all.
Looking at the rooms my biggest concern ..where is the printer going to go? The shelving in the rooms are too small or lack of it.
You don’t need a TV in a study. A laptop can do that also. My kids don’t watch TV anymore. It’s only used by parents.
Also filing systems…my husband works from home off and on, and we still need to file paper work.
The judges are really missing things …

    1. I am a know what I like person. So feel that is what the real estate guy is trying to push. Fit the brief.
Perhaps wall plugs for computers may have had something to do with the storm and having to leave things until later.
Don’t think any of them were comfy but I did feel that the winner was a welcoming space.
The girls are listening but by the time they learn will be to late,
Finally, when people who are going to use that space move in they will adjust them to their needs. In the meantime that fireplace was stunning.
Let’s hope that moving forward a little less, she,ll be right mate please.
