Sunday Minx: Towels with Chic and Cheek

When Brooke Rudzis made the decision to start her own homewares brand last year – after completing an interior design course and spending years in the sales, advertising and marketing industry – there was an important decision to make. That decision revolved around exactly what to release.

Brooke was all too aware that there were already so many stunning Australian homewares brands in market, and she knew she had to offer something unique in order to gain cut through in the competitive local landscape.

“After a long shopping expedition to find new bath towels for home, I returned with a bag of Missoni Home products,” Brooke explains, of how the concept for her brand came together.

“Whilst beautiful, they still weren’t exactly what I was after. It was my husband who suggested I had just found my launch product and encouraged me to design the towels I was longing to find on the shelves”.

And so Sunday Minx was born. A brand that fuses quality and sophistication with fun and cheekiness, the products created by this Sydney-based business celebrate colour and pattern with absolute aplomb.

Operating the brand with her husband, Shane, Brooke tells me that the towels have received great feedback so far, with all designs being popular with buyers. Brooke also has all of the designs in her own home – as you’d imagine – and has them on constant rotation.

“Currently our Shadow Towels are looking very sophisticated in their monochrome hues, yet no doubt by the weekend I will have opted for a vibrant punch of colour”.

When it came to the design and production of the Sunday Minx range, Brooke was very hands-on throughout the entire process. She travelled the Europe to meet with their manufacturer to feel the cotton, and combined that quality craftsmanship with the bold geometric designs the brand is known for. The result is striking softness for your bathroom that feels as good as it looks.

Enjoying that her dream has become a reality, Brooke admits that it was always a risk challenging the design norm of plain coloured towels for the bathroom, but it’s a risk that’s paid off.

“Thankfully we have heard on numerous occasions how our towels add colour, design and vibrancy to the bathroom space”.

While the brand is relatively young, Brooke tells me that she has already experienced many highlights on the journey, like knowing that celebs are using the Sunday Minx range. She admits that one moment was by far the most rewarding, though.

“One of my favourite moments was after a shower when I wrapped myself in Sunday Minx luxury for the first time. It was almost surreal knowing we had come this far to physically hold our own product. It was quite possibly the best shower I’ve ever had!”.
