How to use your Outdoor Area for Autumn Entertaining
That little chill that’s in the air of late is filling me with all sorts of joy and rapture. As a lover of the colder months, I’m in a state of unadulterated bliss right now.
Of course, being a lover of Autumn, I’m often faced with the issue of what to do socially during the frostier months. Let’s face it, you can’t stay inside for half the year and hibernate. With the right product choices – and an equally positive attitude – Autumn entertaining can be a cinch. And a warm cinch at that.
In this post I want to give you some of my fave furniture ideas for the colder months. The bonus included is some homewares to get your outdoor area looking fabulous, and some crafty styling tips too.
So let’s dive into Autumn entertaining ideas and how to make your backyard beautiful.
Using your Outdoor Area for Autumn Entertaining
If your outdoor room is covered (like in the hero image in this post), you’re already ahead of the pack. Here are some ideas to make Autumn entertaining in your outdoor room amazing:
– Bring rugs from inside out into your covered patio or verandah. It’ll make the space feel cosier.
– Opt for outdoor cushions in tactile materials to bring more texture to the outdoor zone.
– Cover hard walls with outdoor art in interesting patterns to lessen the harsh, exterior vibes.
– Look to outdoor furniture in warm colours and materials, like mid-toned timbers.
– A monochromatic palette of greys, creams and blacks will make the room feel calm.
The images you see in the post come courtesy of Globewest. The hero image features their stunning Reef Collection, which you can see more of here. I’m in love with that armchair!
Find your Light and Stay there
Autumn entertaining doesn’t have to be done where your summer entertaining was. Like Tyra Banks would always say to the ladies on America’s Next Top Model, “find your light”. Chase the sun and move your furniture out from under your pergola and onto the grass. This will put you in the warmest spot your backyard has to offer. So sit back with a glass of red and enjoy the rays.
You also have the option of bringing pieces out that you’d normally curl up with indoors, like throws and cushions. It’ll certainly make the whole setting feel more inviting.
The scene above is another beauty from Globewest. It features the Noosa Corner Set Sofa which is made from rattan and has integrated teak side tables. See more of it here.
Get Fired up – Literally
I am so obsessed with fire pits I cannot even tell you. Nothing makes me happier than curling up in front of an outdoor fire pit with my gloves and scarf on. Add a gorgeous glass of red in a gigantic goblet and I’m in a state of Autumn entertaining nirvana.
The great thing about fire pits is that they’re easy on the budget, are portable, not permanent and can move with you from house to house. They’re super-easy to get going and just as simple to put out. I actually prefer them to installed outdoor fireplaces, because they feel so wonderfully rustic.
I’ll pop some details below about fire pits as part of my must-have Autumn entertaining essentials. But if you’re loving the look of the table and chairs above, they’re from Globewest too. See more of them here.
