Christmas Table Settings and Styling - Scandi Table

How-to Videos: 3 Stunning Christmas Table Setting Ideas

There’s nothing I adore more than Christmas, and when it comes to creating an amazing tablescape I am well and truly in my element. While the tree tends to be the focus during the festive season, you should never overlook the beauty and impact a well-styled Christmas table setting can bring to your home.

I caught up with the team from Metricon recently to style up a festive storm in their display homes, snap the festive tables and record some how-to videos while I was at it, to show you how easy it is to create three different but equally stunning Christmas table settings; Scandi, Global Fusion and Maison Classique – using your home’s existing design as an inspiration point.

 A Scandi Christmas Table Setting

A Scandinavian Table setting is all about clean lines and subdued colours. The exception when it comes to a Christmas table setting – as you can see here – is that an accent colour like red really elevates the look and allows the space to feel more festive. White and blonde timbers are still as present as ever, though, and bringing in some elements from the garden is a great idea, too. The best part about Christmas table styling is that you can draw ideas and inspiration from your home’s existing designs and bring it onto the table. More on this in the video below.

A Global Fusion Christmas Table Setting

As the name suggests, a Global Fusion setting meshes international styles and really gives you the freedom to go non-traditional with your colour story. This table setting is all about mixing eclectic pieces you’ve collected from your travels and utilising coppers, reds, rich browns and blacks. Metallics are trending hard at the moment, so if you’re a fan of those you’ll love the Global Fusion theme. It also allows you to create real wow moments with individual place settings, which are explained in more details in the video below.

A Maison Classique Christmas Table Setting

If you love all things French, you’ll find the Maison Classique table setting to be right up your alley. This look is a modern take on a traditional French look, pairing new items with your treasured possessions and allowing silver and glass pieces to shine. Somewhat softer and possibly more feminine, there’s a real sense of luxury and sophistication to this setting. So if you like your Christmas to feel a little more formal, check out the video below to see how you can make the Maison Classique look work for your home!

Three three themes for this Christmas table setting story were taken from Metricon’s Lookbook, which is a fabulous source of decorating inspiration online. With oodles of images to look at, you can find a style in the Lookbook that you love and discover ways to make it shine in your own space. It should also be noted that the pieces in these three style stories came from Adairs.

Oh my! Loving the global fusion setting above how adorable are those copper reindeer and geometric shapes – off to Adairs asap.
Having to choose just one style from the Metricon lookbook – ARGH!!!! I love mixing it up with an eclectic blend usually so I love the fittings and fixtures of vintage and industrial, the mixing pot that is global fusion and the calmness of the harbourside colours…..having to choose one is a pure nightmare….I would go with vintage and industrial as I think it would be hubby’s fave & I want him to feel comfy too.

Wow, I love most of them! Harbourside or Wall street are the ones I could see my family living in I think, but I also love the glamour of Kodak Moments! All have such beautiful kitchens and bathrooms, I think I drooled a little bit!

The Scandinavian look hits the mark for me – elegant, fine detailed furniture (tapered legs I love you!) beautiful combination of monochrome and warm timber elements. This look is very in vogue at the moment but I think it also has a timeless appeal that I have been slowly trying to introduce into our living space over the past year. A beautiful long, solid timber sideboard gets me every time! I crumple with longing! The options for showcasing your favourite homewares & indoor pots on a sideboard are endless. Great resource – thanks Chris!

Thanks so much for the table styling ideas – I was already doing a red and white theme this year but I am stealing some of your Scandinavian inspiration and adding some timber and rosemary – I think it will help tie it all together with a more elegant style 🙂

It was a tough choice between 2 but my favourite is the harbourside – i really love the neutral sands, the weathered and light distressed timbers. For me this style is not too overwhelming/bold, so would go perfect with my favourite colours ie. greens, blues and pinks. It reminds me of relaxing, funfilled beachside living so would bring fun, harmony and relaxation into my home. I would like to add splashes of my favourite colours to this style with cushions, pictures on walls, lamps etc. Would be dreamy 🙂

After much deliberation (thinly veiled as me actually working at my desk… :)) I’m going with Urban Organic Style. I love the organic colours and the fibres – and I could always throw in a hit of neon pink! I’m trying to teach my children to value eco friendly living, so this is my pick.

I find the relaxed look & features of habourside gorgeous. I love the neutral colour pallate perfect to be able to make simple seasonal changes with pops of colour. The layout of the rooms is spacious and inviting for a family

    reply
  • All of the Lookbook styles are amazing, and if I could mix and match certain elements from each one, I would! But I just keep coming back to Wall Street every time. It’s modern and very strong and bold, but could easily adapt to personal touches, family memorabilia or simply a beautiful vase of flowers. It’s a place where my husband and I would both feel at home, without looking like the kids are going to destroy it in a millisecond.
