Struggling to find a quality armchair with matching ottoman? I feel your pain. When our interior design clients request one we always know it’s going to be a journey.
Why do retailers not stock more of these? It’s a mystery I’m still trying to get to the bottom of. The good news though: there actually are some great armchairs with matching ottomans on the market right now, and we’ve hunted them down for you from some of our fave suppliers.
This roundup has taken into account a range of styles and budgets too, so I’m crossing my fingers you’ll be able to snap something up and be kicking back relaxing in no time.
Before We Dive Into the Armchair and Ottoman Roundup…
Don’t recoil in horror when I say this, but there are some great recliner armchairs available at the moment. I know, recliners used to be an eyesore, but they’ve come such a long way.
I’ve compiled a blog post on the best recliner armchairs on the marker right now, which you might want to consider if the armchairs and ottomans below don’t take your fancy.
If you have a small living room on your hands, a recliner armchair can be great a space-saving solution. But if you can’t face the idea of one, scroll on and we’ll get you an armchair and ottoman set sorted ASAP.
1. Plush Snuggle Armchair with Ottoman
I’m starting with one we’ve ordered for a number of our design clients: the Plush Snuggle Armchair with Matching Ottoman.
Purchased as two separate pieces, this duo is a godsend on the comfort-front. And because there are so many showrooms across the country, you can road-test it in-store to ensure it’s as nice to unwind in as it looks above.
Boasting a generous 135cm width, this armchair and ottoman combo is rather ample. But if you need a solution for a smaller corner at home, there’s a petite version. And both sizes come in so many fabric options, so you can create a more individualised look.
2. IKEA Strandmon Armchair with Matching Ottoman
Another armchair and ottoman combo we’re quite well-acquainted with here at TLC Interiors is IKEA’s Strandmon Armchair with Matching Ottoman.
It’s been in the home of family member’s for a number of years. We’ve seen it, sat on it, eaten in it and can attest to its longevity.
It’s a beauty that comes in five different colours, from the charcoal you see above through to bolder velvet green and blue tones.
With a winged back and button detail, it gives off a somewhat traditional look. But that doesn’t mean it can’t work in a more modern setting, giving you a room that feels well-balanced.
3. Oscar Velvet Seat with Ottoman
The Oscar Armchair and Matching Ottoman is actually the centre section of a larger sofa from Early Settler, proving that you sometimes need to think outside the box to get your dream seat and ottoman combination.
Available in a soft and smooth latte-coloured velvet, this seat and ottoman is perfect for a room where you want minimalism to shine.
With no arms getting in the way, it’s also perfect for smaller living rooms, or for the corner of your bedroom if you need a spot to sit down and take off shoes.
4. Quiet Time Armchair with Ottoman
A comfortable and sturdy option for those of you who like a more streamlined look at home, Koala’s Quiet Time Armchair with Ottoman ticks many boxes on the furniture-front.
Available in three colours – all inspired by the Australian landscape – it’s an easy chair to assemble. Simply attach the legs to the base of your armchair and ottoman and you’re on your way to creating a reading nook to unwind in.
Don’t be fooled by the compact profile either. Koala assures us that the oversized curves ensure maximum comfort. Plus they offer a no-questions-asked return if you’re not happy with the armchair and ottoman within 120 days. Sounds perfect.
5. Draper Leather Armchair and Ottoman
You would have read my blog post on the types of leather sofas I’d never recommend, but rest assured a gorgeous tan leather option is definitely on the ‘approve’ list.
And when it sports a Mad Men kinda vibe like this Draper Leather Armchair and Matching Ottoman does, it’s an ‘add to cart’ moment if I ever saw one.
A comfortable and rather dapper looking duo via our friends at Lounge Lovers.
6. Pebble Armchair and Ottoman
If you’re on the hunt for a matching armchair and ottoman with a splash of colour, Castlery have come to the rescue with their Pebble Armchair with Ottoman.
This mid-Century inspired duo is raised on thin metal legs with brass accents, so it won’t feel heavy in your room. Air can flow underneath, while the low back allows your eye to glide over it. It’s a win-win.
The simple profile doesn’t mean it’s uncomfortable though. Thanks to the foam and pocket coil filled seat, you’re in for lazy afternoons curled up in this beauty.
7. Bargain Buy: Winston Armchair with Matching Ottoman
Feast your eyes on the armchair and ottoman that budget-lovers are going crazy over: Kmart’s Winston Armchair and Ottoman combo.
They come as separates (armchair for $149 and matching ottoman for $49), but you’d be mad not to swoop in and grab both at once. I suspect they won’t be in-stock for long.
Ideal for smaller spaces at 74cm wide, the chair would feel right at home in a coastal, bohemian, Hamptons or similarly modern interior design scheme.
8. Puff Puff Lounge Chair and Ottoman
We’re big fans of Bludot here at TLC Interiors, so it’ll come as no surprise that we’ve included their Puff Puff Lounge Chair with Matching Ottoman in our roundup. How could we not? It’s a design-driven beauty that’s also comfortable to kick back and relax in.
Available in four colours and three different fabrics, it’s the kind of chair that makes a statement without trying too hard. Love those powder-coated legs too.
9. Hanover Upholstered Armchair and Matching Ottoman
Coming in at under $500 is the cushy and comfortable Hanover Upholstered Armchair and Matching Ottoman from Temple & Webster.
You can see how plush it is in the image above; a thick, sumptuous seat topped with a bonus lumbar cushion for back support is just what you need to invite relaxation.
Inspired by mid-Century design with its winged back and tufted buttons, the polyester fabric on this matching armchair and ottoman set is easy to clean and will withstand wear and tear.
10. Hampton Armchair and Matching Ottoman
The Hampton Armchair with Matching Ottoman is a clean-line, contemporary beauty that’s designed with comfort in mind. The arms are high enough to give you a hug without getting in the way, while the back cushion sits high enough to support without feeling dominant.
The raised timber legs and soft, muted fabric that are also worth noting. They both work together to give this combo an easy-on-the-eye feel.
11. Slouch Armchair with Matching Ottoman
OK, so I’m bending the rules a bit here. This chair doesn’t technically have arms. But it is a chair with a matching ottoman and it’s such a winning idea that I had to include it.
The Slouch Armchair with Matching Ottoman from Globewest has such a relaxed yet refined look about it. You might not have it sitting in your everyday living room, but it would look pretty stunning in a retreat, rumpus or games room.
I could happily slouch in this armchair for hours scrolling Instagram or playing X-Box. Yes, I’m over 40 and I play X-Box – it’s a thing! 😉
12. Cushy Sofa Bed Armchair with Matching Ottoman
Now here’s an armchair and matching ottoman with a secret to hide. And it’s a pretty epic one. The Cushy Sofa Bed from Koala is a one-seater armchair, ottoman with storage inside AND sofa bed, all in one!
This is the kinda armchair and ottoman you can enjoy day-to-day but also one that services guests when they stay.
Pop a blanket inside the ottoman and you have everything within easy reach. It’s an ideal solution if you’re in a small home without a guest bedroom. This can sit proudly in your living room and fold out when needed.
Looking for a sofa bed too? Here’s a complete list of our best sofa beds for all budgets.
13. Venice Matching Armchair and Ottoman
While it’s not pictured above, rest assured the Venice Armchair from Lounge Lovers absolutely has a matching ottoman that pairs up with it.
Purchased as separates, both the armchair and ottoman come in three colour options and easy to maintain slipcovers than can be removed, washed and recovered when needed.
The fabric is made from a linen blend, which makes it breathable all while resisting pilling. Coastal in its inspiration, this is a matching armchair and ottoman combo that’ll work into so many interior design schemes.
14. Irvine Armchair with Matching Ottoman
There’s something about a dusty pink tone punctuating an otherwise muted room that just excites me. I did something similar in the living room of our Hampton project and the blush chair looked so beautiful.
If you love the idea of a pop of pink in your space, consider snapping up the Irvine Matching Armchair and Ottoman set from Early Settler.
It’s worth noting that Irvine comes in three other bold colourways, so if pink isn’t your thing their other tones might take your fancy.
15. Ziggy Armchair and Ottoman
Now this is a designer armchair and ottoman couple I’d love for my own home. The Ziggy Amchair and Ottoman set from Jardan is an absolute stunner and so customisable too.
Purchased as separate pieces, Ziggy comes in 10 divine fabric options as well as eight leg materials. Choose to play it safe with some neutral tones or let it be the star of your living room by selecting a bolder fabric like the one you see above.
The ottoman would work well as a seat if you had extra guests around, and is of course a dream for popping your feet up on.
16. Olivia Armchair and Ottoman
This is another piece I’ve used in one of our design projects and can attest to its cushiness and beauty. And that’s really want you want in a set like this, isn’t it; something that looks impressive without compromising on comfort?
The Olivia Armchair with Matching Ottoman from Icon By Design is a true standout. The profile is quite structured, but is perfectly balanced by how soft and sumptuous the side and back cushions are.
It’s available in a number of different fabric colours and leg stains, so you can create a set that best reflects your design style.
17. Monty Leather Armchair and Ottoman
The Monty Leather Armchair and Ottoman from Freedom has ‘movie night’ written all over him, don’t you think? And how easy would it be to wipe away all the popcorn at the end of the flick (surely it’s not just me who discovers crumbs all over themselves at the end of the film?).
This is a low-to-the-ground armchair and ottoman set that would be fantastic in a cinema room, kids retreat/rumpus area, or even a teen bedroom. It swivels too, so you can get in and out of it with ease when you need to.
18. Amber Boucle Swivel Chair and Footstool
It would be practically criminal of me not to include a boucle set in this roundup. We’ve all now gotten on-board with boucle, haven’t we? If not, perhaps the Amber Boucle Swivel Chair and Footstool from Castlery will change your mind.
What I enjoy about these two is that yes, they do go together, but the timber detail on the footstool doesn’t perfectly match the back metal swivel on the base of the chair. These two are sisters, not twins; an approach I rather like when putting furniture together in a room.
19. Teddy Matching Armchair and Ottoman
Inspired by classic Danish design, the Teddy Armchair with Matching Ottoman from Horgans comes upholstered in the most sumptuous caramel-coloured fabric.
Soft to the touch, it’s the sort of armchair you could curl up in for hours. And I love that the ottoman is on the more petite side. It gives you the ability to easily move it out of the way when you need to, and balances out the beefier profile of the chair.
20. Lake Armchair with Matching Footstool
Featuring an upholstered suspended sling and available in both fabric or leather, the Lake Armchair with Matching Footstool is the ultimate laidback armchair.
I love the juxtaposition of that rather architectural frame against the soft panels of fabric. It makes for a chair and stool combo that is stunning to look at but ultra-comfortable as well.
This is another beauty from Jardan that you can make your own with a choice of 18 colours and even more frame finishes.
21. Alice Leather Armchair and Matching Ottoman
A rich walnut leather might just be the punch of mood and texture your living room needs, and the Alice Leather Armchair and Matching Ottoman is the set to deliver it.
Sporting a clean, minimalistic profile, Alice is made from top-grain, semi-aniline leather. She’s also built to last, with a solid frame and sturdy legs.
You can also purchase Lounge Lovers’ leather protection kit, which will ensure Alice is safe from spills and accidental damage for five years.
