Call a medic as soon as possible.
Those are the words that sprung to mind when I discovered the stunning eclectic apartment in today’s post. It’s the kind of home that thrills me and saddens me at the same time. Thrills me, clearly, because I want to live there forever. Saddens me because it makes me hate everything in my own home!
What this interior design does so well is merge sixties style with contemporary pieces, gives a nod to crafts and vintage aesthetics while still feeling completely fresh and uses colour with reckless abandon. It’s just… too good for me to bare!
I call this style nanna chic. It’s almost a hipster home (which I’ve showcased on the blog before) but it’s far more elevated and it’s fare slicker. There’s a bit more thought put into this look and while it is eclectic, it’s not shabby-chic. I honestly love everything about it.
Inside a Colourful Vintage Apartment
That Dining Table!
The dining table is the clear standout, don’t you think? To paint it in that stunning apple green but to leave the legs partly bare was a genius move if I ever saw one. Teaming it with mismatched chairs makes the space feel super-relaxed, but then the oversized vase takes it in a modern, designer direction. There’s care and thought in this room and I really appreciate that.
Of course, the wallpaper in the living space is an out-of-this-world moment, which is taken next-level with the introduction of the neon pink candles in the IKEA candelabra. This is how you merge old and new (or nostalgic and contemporary) in the right way. You never do a 50/50 split. This is about 70% vintage with 30% modern and that’s why it works.
Loving the Mismatched Look
The open shelving in the kitchen is to die for. I’ve always been drawn to a slightly slap-happy, thrown together and mismatched kitchenware moment. It’s not for everyone and it certainly has a ‘my first apartment out of home’ feel to it, but I adore the vibe it creates. Displaying the pieces on open shelving like that in the kitchen makes them little works of art. I heart this bigtime.
The pendant light in the bedroom walks a really fine line for me. If I saw it alone I would hate it, but in this space it’s kinda extraordinary. It’s giving me an exquisite retro moment.
What are you loving about this eclectic interior? Is nanna chic your kinda vibe? Drop me a comment below and share your fave moments! 🙂

Chris do you know where the pendant lights are from in that kitchen shot? Love them!
