TLC Interiors is all about supporting local, but sometimes phenomenal design knows no geography.
In today’s post I’m introducing you to an international brand you’re going to fall head over heels for. And you can win one of their designs!
“I treat Eco Deer as a floral trophy board,” explains Kate Deer, the brand founder, maker and team leader at Eco Deer. It’s probably the best way to describe the range this Ukraine business has birthed, which sells its varied creations locally through Etsy.
A botanical wall vase might be another way to explain what these gorgeous pieces are, but however you sum them up you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who could deny their inherent beauty.
It was after a trip to the US in 2015 that Kate and her husband starting toying with the idea of producing a creative board for flower hunters. It wasn’t long after they returned home that they started getting to work on creating their first designs.
The process wasn’t as straight-forward as you might think, with Kate spending several weeks making a prototype, finding the right materials, contracting producers and more. Finally though, the first product was born, and it was exactly as Kate has envisioned.
“I was always fascinated with the idea of how simple natural elements can make home décor so vivid and interesting,” Kate tells me, when I ask her about the inspiration behind her business and its eye-catching creations.
“I love plants and I love to use them in different combinations both at home and in my projects,” she explains. “And Eco Deer appeared as a perfect connection between interiors and plants”.
I’m taken aback by the wonderful sense of nature and minimalism in these pieces. They are so simple and yet so striking, and they have a quiet confidence about them. There’s also the aspect of versatility and personalisation that appeals to me too; you can put any number of plants, branches or flowers in the vases and have an ever-rotating nature display on your wall.
With the botanic trend being one of the biggest to hit in recent years, these pieces give you a whole new way to rock the indoor plant vibe but in a unique, interesting way.
Of the process involved, Kate has now gotten it down to a fine art and enjoys the time it takes to make these marvels.
“I definitely enjoy it,” she tells me. “It is always great feeling when you create something and you’re satisfied with the result”.
